Letter from Thuy:
Thank you for your support all these years. I've been honored to meet many passionate and dedicated people, developed some great relationships, and much was accomplished.
My work with Veterans and the Vietnam War Era was to educate others and put a face to those connected to this part of history and their stories. However, the Vietnam Veterans' Day (bill we proposed and advocated for) is exactly that- the Veterans' day to organize how they want. My Final Thoughts and Ideas
Thank you for your support all these years. I've been honored to meet many passionate and dedicated people, developed some great relationships, and much was accomplished.
- We shipped 40 foot ocean freight medical containers overseas.
- We sponsored programs in Vietnam for people with disabilities and other youth.
- We initiated and advocated for the Vietnam Veterans' Day Bill and started the very first event that took place in Wisconsin. We organized Veteran events along with a Vietnam War Era symposium, and helped advise others who wanted to start something in their area.
- We organized and were a part of many activities to bridge the gap and encourage healing and the building of new relations with the people of Vietnam and the United States.
- We organized other events and activities bringing awareness to addictions, mental health, and recovery related issues.

I am grateful for the Vietnam Veterans I met and learned from (including the Vietnamese and Hmong) and for the opportunity to honor my Vietnam Veteran father. I am grateful for the next generation of veterans who became my volunteers during our events and their authentic support and commitment. During all of this it was a time where I reflected on my own connection, understanding, and healing.
I've reflected much on TSIO and intuitively the direction I felt I was supposed to pursue. After many years of the above mentioned activities, there were many things accomplished. I debated about continuing as an organization, but felt this season was over and it was time to move on. We worked on phasing out our activities and assisted others in starting something of their own. My husband and I also relocated out of Wisconsin.
Unfortunately, I developed health issues and it took several years to resolve. I've learned a lot through this period and it has inspired a new vision.
I will continue with my work, but in a new direction as an independent artist, multi-media producer and health and wellness educator. My new name is Thuy Smith Outreach International. My past work under TSIO will be archived on this website.
So stay tuned and check back if you are still interested.
Thank you,
Thuy Smith

- I will continue my work from the last few years, but by exploring more about the aftermath and circumstances involved with war.
- I will continue to support good polices and programs regarding the addictions / recovery and prevention field, while advocating for changes that still need to be made.
- I will continue to bring forth issues from around the world including within our own country, past and present.
- I will be sharing more of my work that relate to self-care, spirituality, and other health related topics.
- I will continue to provide a platform to empower others in telling their story.
So stay tuned and check back if you are still interested.
Thank you,
Thuy Smith
